Are you hoping for something better? Most folks are.
Instead of wasting your time in the desperate act of hoping, you might just want to start doing something new. It’s easy. It hardly requires any effort on your part. And it will help you to start attaining the things you would like to have.
I am talking about the power of attention. The power of the mind. Test out and learn to understand the power of the mind - it may help you to reach things you thought unreachable. With hardly any effort.
However … It is primarily when you set yourself free from all pressure and deadlines that you can REALLY start to use the power the mind. If you’re bummed out by stress, it won’t work.
Yes, different things to do come knocking on your door during the most unfortunate time of the day … however, if you just make it a point to stay aware and non-judgemental (of both your surroundings and most particularly yourself) during these occasions then you will slowly be starting to create a better life for yourself just by doing that.
Yes, that’s right. Just by staying aware of what’s going on inside you and not judging. You don’t even have to DO anything (other than nocice what is going on, particularly inside yourself).
Be open to the possibility that the power of the mind is working for you if you simply up your level of attention.
Perhaps you will also notice that you become more creative and innovative.
After a while, say a week or two with an elevated awareness level, you can start to set goals for yourself. What would you like to attain? Start small. But set your goal firmly in your mind. (Don’t change it once you’ve set it).
No, don’t set out to fight for your goals. Just notice that you have this goal and that goal. Remember it, that’s all. This is not to say you should be passive. If an opportunity arises, act on it. But leave it at that.
I know all this sounds pretty weird. But it works. And it works particularly well if you combine it with being consciously positive. Every time a negative thought about your goal (or anything else for that matter) occurs, deliberately change it to its opposite: Change every negative thought you have into a positive one. Hard work, but it’s worth it. (Try it out for just a single day if you like).
If you are really into it, begin dropping negative (harmful) habits … and negative people, too. Just say goodbye to all those negative, you-can-not-do-this folks. They do you no good, so drop them. In a nice way, of course.
Once you think primarily positive thoughts and surround yourself with primarily positive things and people, you will realize that your life itself has in fact become positive. And you are attaining your goals easily and (almost) effortlessly.
Such an amazing the mind – and human consciousness – is!
In your quest to make the most of the power of the mind and your amazing human consciousness, you may want to consider the following things:
* Sit in a quiet and undistrubed place for at least half an hour every day. Try to relax yourself in your favorite chair or you can lie down if you wish to. You can make the half an hour 3 times 10 minutes if you like. Or 6 times 5 minutes. Or whatever pleases you. You don’t have to meditate or anything like that. Just be quiet and still. This ‘downtime’ is like recharging the battery of the mind. It will enhance your creativity.
* Go for a comfortable dress code with relatively loose clothing because when your body feels free, so does your mind.
* Uncross both your arms and legs. This will allow the blood and the energy to flow more freely, and your will feel more relaxed and recharge faster.
* Focus on your breathing for a while. Maybe just for 3 to 5 deep breaths. Make those breaths relatively slow and as deep as you can. This will help to activate the vagus nerve which is the one that is known as the major quieting nerve inside the whole body. Also it brings fresh oxygen to your brain. And replaces stale air in the outer reaches of your lungs.
* Be sure that both your mind is emptied as your thoughts arise. Allow your mind to think, but discard every thought after it has arisen. Do not pursue the thought. Just drop it. Imagine a wastebasket where you throw the thought. If you have a creative insight, write it down on a piece of paper and then discard the thought.
The rule of the thumb is that you must be in your relaxed state to potentially make use of the power of the mind.
During the first tries, you will probably find this activity pretty annoying and demaning. Yes, reladxing body and mind can be demanding. But after a few times it becomes easier. Load yourself up with patience and you will be able to do these things better in no time.
The power of the mind is so powerful that it can transform you from the person you are into the person you would like to be. This, I guess, is self improvement and personal development at its most fundamental level.
